Sony San Diego Studios announced MLB The Show 23 today, and confirmed that it will launch across all major PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo systems on March 28. The PlayStation 4’s 3.50 System Software update launches tomorrow, April 6, via the PlayStation Network. Other improvements rolling out this week include an “appear offline” option, notifications for when specific friends log in to the PlayStation Network, and a “Play Together” feature that allows all members of a Party to view their friends’ statuses and quickly jump into a game in progress. Starting in System Software version 3.50, players will have the ability to schedule events and gameplay sessions with friends via the PlayStation 4’s dashboard. Sony is also overhauling a number of platform-specific social features as part of this week’s PlayStation 4 firmware update. Sony’s Remote Play functionality supports Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 devices in addition to Mac OS 10.10 and 10.11. Xbox One streaming requires Windows 10, however, and is not available for Mac platforms. Microsoft’s competing Xbox One console also offers PC streaming capabilities at resolutions up to 1080p. Sony additionally offers 360p resolution options for players with limited Internet access. While PlayStation 4 Remote Play streaming defaults to 30 frames-per-second output at 540p, players who meet Sony’s bandwidth requirements can increase performance to a maximum of 60 frames-per-second at 720p.
